Problem
Two of the country’s largest pharmaceutical wholesalers each sit behind their own login, use their own product codes, and define availability differently. Comparing them by hand was slow and error-prone.
Purchasing needed one trustworthy view of where each product was cheapest and in stock, every single morning.
Approach
- Automated the login and session handling for both wholesalers, with security-bypass handling where needed.
- Wrote normalisation rules that match the same product across two different catalogue systems.
- Scheduled the whole run via crontab with error notifications, so a failed run pages a human instead of going silent.
- Generated a side-by-side Excel comparison sized for the purchasing workflow.
Result
Daily price and stock data from both wholesalers lands in one comparison, ready before the team starts work.
Purchasing optimisation that was previously impossible at scale became a routine, automated step.
